Tashkent expands its fleet with over two hundred Chinese-made electric buses
A ceremonial event was held to welcome 202 new Yutong electric buses delivered from China.
According to the Toshshahartansxizmat JSC statement, the event was attended by the mayor of Tashkent, the Minister of Transport, members of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport and the city administration, as well as media representatives and bloggers.
“The new environmentally friendly electric buses will make an important contribution to improving the city’s environment and developing the public transport system. As a result of efforts made in recent years to modernize Tashkent’s public transport fleet, the amount of harmful emissions from buses has been reduced by 93.3 tons per month,” the statement said.
Reportedly, Tashkent plans to increase the share of electric buses in public transport to 50 percent by 2030.
