Uzbekistan sees decline in outbound students, rising interest in East Asia

This figure fell by almost 5,100 people – or 24.6% – compared to the same period last year.

The most popular destinations for Uzbek students were:

• Tajikistan – 5,270 people;
• Russia – 4,649 people;
• Kyrgyzstan – 3,064 people;
• South Korea – 2,309 people;
• Turkey – 1,538 people;
• Kazakhstan – 874 people;
• China – 797 people;
• United Kingdom – 567 people;
• Germany – 285 people;
• United States – 256 people.

At the same time, the number of students going to China and South Korea more than doubled, while the number of those choosing Tajikistan decreased by half.
