President Mirziyoev announces new incentives for multilingual youth to drive tourism growth
President Shavkat Mirziyoev has announced a comprehensive initiative to leverage the skills of young Uzbeks, both at home and abroad, to strengthen the country’s international presence and boost its tourism and export potential.
During a recent open dialogue with the country’s youth, the president stressed that Uzbekistan now has more than 650,000 young people who are fluent in foreign languages. He emphasized that by equipping this population with the skills to produce high-quality digital content about the nation's history and cultural heritage, the state can simultaneously enhance its global tourism appeal and provide high-income opportunities for its youth.
To systematically support this effort, the government will establish a specialized digital content platform designed specifically for tourism promotion, backed by an annual budget of UZS 20 billion.
The initiative also directly involves the significant community of young Uzbeks living outside the country. Currently, more than 150,000 citizens are pursuing higher education or scientific research abroad. The state plans to channel their localized expertise into promoting domestic goods and travel destinations, while creating alternative revenue streams for the students themselves.
Under the new framework, overseas students will receive dedicated state grants to carry out promotional and analytical tasks. Their responsibilities will include analyzing consumer demand within their host countries and relaying critical market insights back to manufacturers in Uzbekistan. Additionally, grant recipients will set up exhibition stands to showcase Uzbekistan's economic potential, present curated tourism itineraries, and market locally produced goods directly to foreign audiences.
