Over half a billion UZS in delayed wages recovered for Samarkand healthcare staff

In Bulungur district of Samarkand region, more than 80 medical workers were found not to have received their guaranteed payments, the Ministry of Justice reported.
A review of compliance with labor legislation was conducted at the district health department.
It was revealed that the employer had notified employees about the termination of their labor contracts but failed to pay the guaranteed compensation to those who were effectively left without work.
According to Article 100 of the Labor Code, employees are guaranteed the preservation of their average wage for up to two months during the job search period. Based on this, a total of UZS 574,336,165 in payments was fully recovered for 82 medical workers.
Earlier, it was announced that Uzbekistan would adopt a new approach to ensure stronger protection of workers’ interests when determining the minimum wage.
