According to the Dunyo news agency, which cited Ukrainian outlets Open4business and Fixygen, renowned British journalist and motorsport analyst Joe Saward – who has been covering Formula 1 since the 1980s – reported that Uzbekistan may be interested in hosting one of the stages of the prestigious race.

It is noted that within the framework of the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Circuit, representatives from Uzbekistan and several Asian countries engaged in active discussions about the prospects of organizing future Formula 1 events.

The publication highlights that Joe Saward is a permanently accredited correspondent of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the author of the popular blog Joe’s Blog F1, dedicated to the inner workings and lesser-known aspects of motorsport.

According to Saward, Uzbekistan is emerging as a promising hub for developing international motorsport events in Central Asia.

“The paddock at Marina Bay was, as always, full of energy. Rumors spread that representatives from Thailand, South Korea, and even Uzbekistan were discussing the potential of hosting future F1 races,” he said.

Saward noted that this initiative aligns with Tashkent’s strategic direction to modernize infrastructure and strengthen the country’s international image through sports.

“The sports sector is gaining an increasingly important role in Uzbekistan’s social life,” Ukrainian media wrote. “Recently, the national football team secured its first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup, which has given a major boost to the development of both mass and professional sports.”
