South Korean construction company Kyeryong will build a new medical center in Tashkent at a cost of nearly $150 million, the Ministry of Health reported.
Earlier this week, Health Minister Asilbek Khudoyarov and the head of the Kyeryong consortium, selected as the project’s general contractor, signed an agreement for the construction of a multidisciplinary medical center for adults. Following the signing ceremony, construction officially began.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Republic of Korea.

The total cost amounts to $149.8 million, of which $124 million will be financed through an EDCF loan via the Export–Import Bank of Korea, while $25.8 million will be contributed by Uzbekistan.
As part of the project, a new level IV hospital meeting international standards will be built, with a capacity of 300 beds and the creation of over 700 new jobs. To enhance professional skills, 130 Uzbek medical specialists will undergo training in South Korea, and 32 highly qualified Korean experts will be invited to work at the facility.
The hospital will be capable of performing 8,500 high-tech surgical procedures annually, including cardiovascular surgery, transplantation, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, and operations related to spinal and joint disorders.
