US dollar exchange rate falls below UZS 12,000 for the first time since August 2023
The US dollar has fallen below the psychological threshold of UZS 12,000, hitting the UZS 11,990.53 mark. Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan’s national currency has appreciated by 7.6%.
According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the official exchange rate for October 30 was set at UZS 11,990.53 per US dollar – the lowest level recorded since the sharp devaluation on August 10, 2023.
At that time, the dollar had surged by UZS 408 in a single day, rising from UZS 11,667 to UZS 12,075.
On October 29, commercial banks offered the lowest buying rates for the US dollar starting from around UZS 12,020, while the highest selling rates stood at approximately UZS 11,990.
At the beginning of the year, on January 3, the Central Bank’s official rate was UZS 12,904.91. Since then, the dollar has depreciated by UZS 914, strengthening the UZS by 7.6%.
