Tashkent to host seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian leaders
On 15–16 November, the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian countries will be held in Tashkent. The summit will bring together the leaders of all countries in the region, as well as the President of Azerbaijan and the head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The event agenda includes strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia and implementing joint projects and initiatives in priority areas. Participants also plan to exchange views on key issues of regional and international politics.
A significant package of multilateral documents is expected to be adopted following the Consultative Meeting.
The initiative to hold regular consultative meetings of the heads of Central Asian states was proposed by Uzbekistan’s leader in September 2017 at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
During Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in this format, more than 20 major events covering various areas of cooperation have been held.
