Uzbekistan plans to increase coal output
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on 18 November outlining recent results and upcoming plans in the coal mining sector.

According to the data presented, nearly 8.7 million tons of coal were extracted and supplied during the 2024–2025 autumn–winter period for thermal power plants, social facilities and households. For the 2025–2026 season, production is planned to rise to 10 million tons, up by 15% compared to current levels.
To meet this target, the material and technical capacity of Uzbekkumir JSC has been strengthened, and conditions have been created to bring additional producers into the market. Mirziyoyev instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted coal supply for the population throughout the entire heating season.
The president also stressed the need to modernize enterprises, introduce new production capacities and reduce production costs by expanding market mechanisms and promoting competition.
Minister of Mining Industry and Geology Bobir Islamov told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel that the sector has been given new tasks: increasing production capacity through modernization, keeping coal prices affordable for the population and gradually transitioning to market-based principles with the involvement of more private entrepreneurs.
