Tashkent-Andijan toll road to cut travel time to 2 hours 14 minutes and reduce congestion
The planned Tashkent-Andijan toll road will stretch 314 km, with the full journey expected to take 2 hours 14 minutes. Construction is anticipated to last around four years.
According to a presentation delivered by the Ministry of Transport at the third public–private partnership roundtable on 19 November, the new highway will be 314 km long, and the estimated travel time between Tashkent and Andijan will be 2 hours 14 minutes.
The final cost of the project will be announced after the tender winner is selected. The construction period is expected to take approximately four years.
The new road project includes:
– cement–concrete pavement;
– six lanes, classified as Category 1A (motorway);
– 10 tunnels with a combined length of 33 km;
– maximum speed limit of 150 km/h;
– 102 overpasses with a total length of 1,122 meters.
Reportedly, three companies are participating in the tender for the construction of the Tashkent-Andijan toll motorway.
The Deputy Minister explained that the tender winner for the toll road project will be announced in the first half of 2026.
“I believe this will take place in the first or second quarter of 2026. Three bidders have advanced to the second stage. We still have preparatory work to do – we need to provide them with additional information. The tender and preparation of tender documents by the companies usually take three to six months. Depending on their requirements, we will need to adapt. If they can submit their proposals more quickly, then we may determine the winner sooner,” said Jasurbek Choriev.
