According to the consulate, several Uzbek nationals have recently been detained in Kazakhstan for attempting to bypass official border-control points. Kazakh authorities confirmed that the individuals were arrested and charged under Articles 392 and 394 of the Criminal Code, which cover illegal border crossing and related offences.
The consulate reminded citizens that Kazakhstan has tightened penalties for border violations since September, introducing harsher measures including long-term imprisonment. It stressed that even attempting to cross the border illegally is sufficient grounds for criminal liability.
The diplomatic mission urged Uzbek nationals to remain vigilant, avoid relying on “shortcut routes” or persons offering unlawful schemes for faster entry, and comply fully with border-crossing procedures.
The Consulate General also emphasized that respecting border regulations is essential for personal safety and legal protection, underscoring that responsibility ultimately lies with each traveler.
