The ground-breaking ceremony took place on December 4 and was attended by Namangan regional governor Shavkat Abdurazzakov and Yan Bo, President of the Chinese investor company Jiangsu Tonke Real Estate Co. Ltd. The total investment volume of the project is estimated at $750 million.
The China Town Namangan complex will include multi-storey residential buildings, business centers, five-star hotels, retail facilities and recreational areas. The project is expected to become a major driver of economic growth for the Namangan region and the wider Fergana Valley.
Speaking at the ceremony, Abdurazzakov described the project as “a firm step forward in friendship, trust and partnership between Uzbekistan and China.” Officials also noted that China Town Namangan is set to become a unique development for Central Asia, combining modern residential housing with commercial and business infrastructure.
Earlier, Yan Bo also held talks in Kokand with the governor of the neighboring Fergana region, Khayrullo Bozorov. The sides discussed plans to construct apartment buildings and multifunctional complexes within the “Eco City” development in Fergana.
Chinese investors first presented the China Town Namangan project in January this year. According to initial plans, the 66-hectare site will feature residential blocks, office, retail and service infrastructure, as well as a kindergarten, a school and a mosque.
On January 9, a foreign enterprise, TK China Town Namangan, was officially registered to oversee the construction of the residential buildings. The company’s sole founder and director is Yan Bo, with a charter capital of UZS 500 million.
