Weather disruptions divert five international flights to Samarkand
Due to adverse weather conditions at several airports in Uzbekistan, Samarkand International Airport accepted a number of flights as an alternate airport on December 24.
Flight HY9608 operating on the Moscow – Bukhara route was diverted to Samarkand after temporary restrictions were imposed at Bukhara Airport due to unfavorable weather conditions, including fog with visibility of 650 meters. The aircraft landed at 3:27 a.m. Tashkent time.
Flight HY9638 on the St. Petersburg – Urgench route was redirected to Samarkand’s alternate airport because of restrictions at Urgench Airport caused by fog, with visibility down to 200 meters. The landing took place at 6:17 a.m. Tashkent time.
Flight A47055 operating from Moscow – Termez was also diverted to Samarkand due to restrictions at Termez Airport amid fog, with visibility limited to 200 meters. The aircraft landed at 6:03 a.m. Tashkent time.
Another Moscow – Bukhara flight, SU1876, was rerouted to Samarkand after landing restrictions were introduced at Bukhara Airport because of fog, with visibility at 300 meters. The plane landed at 6:36 a.m. local time.
In addition, flight C6317 on the Istanbul – Namangan route was diverted to Samarkand International Airport after one of the passengers on board fell ill. The aircraft landed at 5:53 a.m. Tashkent time.
Earlier, Uzhydromet had forecast fog during the night and morning hours in a number of regions on December 24.
