Blogger Mirsaid Haydarov pays UZS 25 million in moral damages for insulting Anora Sodiqova
Blogger Mirsaid Haydarov has paid UZS 25 million in moral damages after insulting journalist Anora Sodiqova. The debtor transferred the compensation as well as UZS 5,643,500 in court costs after restrictions were imposed on his property.
Reports circulated on social media claiming that moral damages had not been recovered from blogger Mirsaid Haydarov in favor of journalist Anora Sodiqova. However, the press service of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement told Kun.uz that the amounts ordered under the enforcement proceedings were fully recovered on December 26.
According to the enforcement writ issued by the Tashkent City Court, Mirsaid Haydarov was ordered to pay UZS 25 million in moral damages and UZS 5,643,500 in court costs to Anora Sodiqova. The writ was received by the Bektemir District Department of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement on December 19, and enforcement proceedings were initiated the same day, with the parties informed of their rights and obligations.
As part of the enforcement process, restrictions were placed on Haydarov’s property and he was given a 10-day period to settle the debt voluntarily. He was also warned that compulsory enforcement measures would follow if the obligation was not met within the specified period.
“During the enforcement actions, on December 26 Mirsaid Haydarov fully settled the debt in the amount of UZS 30,643,500. With his consent, the funds were transferred to Anora Sodiqova’s personal bank card,” the Bureau said.
As the enforcement order was executed in full, the case has been closed.
For context, on May 28 a judge at the Shaykhantahur Interdistrict Civil Court dismissed Anora Sodiqova’s lawsuit seeking protection of her honor, dignity, and professional reputation against Mirsaid Haydarov. On July 21, however, the appellate instance of the Tashkent City Court overturned the first-instance ruling and ordered Haydarov to pay UZS 25 million in moral damages and UZS 5,643,500 in court costs. The court also required him to delete the insulting posts and issue a public apology to Anora Sodiqova.
