According to the ministry, investment volumes in the sector rose from $2.6 billion in 2021 to $11 billion in 2025, marking a fourfold increase.

Total installed power generation capacity currently stands at 25.8 GW. This includes 5.6 GW from solar and wind power, 2.4 GW from hydropower plants, and 17.8 GW from thermal power stations.

Electricity generation has also increased significantly. In 2017, Uzbekistan produced 60 billion kWh of electricity. As of December 30 this year, output had climbed to 86.4 billion kWh, representing growth of about 40 percent.

The ministry highlighted major progress in grid infrastructure. Between 1991 and 2016, Uzbekistan built 9,300 kilometers of power transmission lines and 4,800 transformer substations. By contrast, 69,000 kilometers of power lines and 14,000 transformer substations were constructed between 2021 and 2025 alone.

Looking ahead, authorities plan to further expand the electricity network in 2026–2030 by adding 45,000 kilometers of transmission lines, 43 substations, and 9,700 transformer points.

The share of “green” energy in the country’s energy mix reached 30 percent in 2025. The government aims to raise this figure to 54 perc
