Abdukodir Khusanov named Asia’s Best Young Footballer of 2025
According to the results of a vote conducted by Goalpost, Abdukodir Khusanov, central defender for the Uzbekistan national team and England’s Manchester City, has been recognized as Asia’s Best Young Footballer of 2025.
During the voting process, Khusanov surpassed several promising players from across Asia, including representatives from Uzbekistan, Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, and Iraq. The list also featured Abbosbek Fayzullaev of the Uzbekistan national team and Turkey’s Başakşehir club.
The year 2025 marked a significant stage in the 21-year-old footballer’s career. In January, he transferred to Manchester City, becoming the first Uzbek player to appear in the English Premier League. In June, Khusanov contributed to the Uzbekistan national team’s successful qualification for the World Cup. This season, he has played in nine matches for Manchester City.
Additionally, Khusanov was ranked 86th in The Athletic’s list of the top 100 players participating in the World Cup, reflecting his growing international reputation.
Khusanov is also currently recognized as the most valuable player in Asia. He transferred from France’s Lens to Manchester City at the beginning of 2025 for a reported fee of £40 million. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €35 million.
