Uzbekistan disburses UZS 1.2 trillion in one-time aid to low-income families
The amount of one-time financial assistance paid to low-income families in Uzbekistan in November 2025 has been announced.
According to the National Agency for Social Protection, such families are being compensated for the difference between the base tariff and the tariff applied above the base norm for excess consumption of electricity of up to 150 kWh per month and natural gas of up to 250 cubic meters during the heating season (and up to 150 cubic meters in months outside the heating season).
Since May 1, 2025, compensation payments totaling UZS 41.6 billion have been paid to 562,900 low-income families whose electricity and natural gas consumption exceeded the base norms. Of this amount, UZS 30.0 billion was allocated for electricity consumption and UZS 11.6 billion for natural gas consumption.
In November of last year, one-time financial assistance totaling UZS 1.2 trillion was also financed for more than 1.161 million low-income families.
Earlier, the criteria for classifying households as “low-income families” were announced. Starting February 1, 2026, a Unified Social Register will be maintained nationwide on the basis of the “Unified Register of Social Protection” and the Register of Low-Income Families.
