Uzbekistan plans to boost passenger car production to nearly 1 million by 2030

Passenger car production in Uzbekistan is set to more than double over the next five years. This target is set out in the draft revised version of the Uzbekistan – 2030 Strategy.

Under the strategy, production of passenger cars in the country is planned at 460,000 units in 2026, 550,000 units in 2027, and 700,000 units in 2028. These figures are envisaged to rise to 800,000 units by 2029 and to nearly 1 million units by 2030.

In January–November 2025, Uzbekistan produced 419,338 passenger cars, averaging 38,121 units per month. Data for December have not yet been published. However, the 11-month figure already exceeds the full-year 2024 output of 399,327 units.

Over the first 11 months of last year, UzAuto Motors continued to account for the largest share of the country’s automotive industry, although the company reduced production across almost all models, with the exception of the Tracker. The strongest growth was recorded by BYD – while the company produced 2,198 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2024, output surged to 17,510 units in 2025. As a result, production increased nearly eightfold in one year. Kia, Chery, and Haval also expanded their production volumes.
