President Mirziyoyev approves creation of major tourist zone on raspberry plantations in Fergana

Agrotourism complexes will be developed on raspberry plantations near Fergana.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has ordered the establishment of the “Fergana” tourist zone, the Ministry of Justice reported.

The tourist and recreational zone will cover an area of 2,396 hectares in Fergana region. A special regime will be in place for 30 years, with the possibility of extension in the future.

Tourism services and job creation are planned along the banks of the Central Fergana Reservoir in Yazyavan district.

In Fergana district, a tourist complex will be developed based on the Vodil raspberry cultivation cluster. The president instructed that the necessary infrastructure for visitors be created, including lightweight service facilities within the gardens and plantations.

Additionally, agrotourism complexes are planned in the Sanoat and Hosilot neighborhoods, drawing on international experience. These will include raspberry plantations, cold storage facilities, and deep-processing workshops for agricultural products.

In his December address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan, the president set a goal to increase the volume of tourism services to $20 billion by 2030. The plan includes launching the first phase of the Gelon tourist complex near Shakhrisabz and opening the Arashan mountain recreation zone in Namangan region.
