Uzbekistan to raise salaries and benefits for military personnel from April
Uzbekistan will introduce a broad package of pay rises and social benefits for military personnel starting April 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at a Security Council meeting on January 13.
Under the new measures, the long-service allowance for Ministry of Defense officers with many years of service will be doubled. Contract-based rank-and-file soldiers and sergeants will also see their monthly salaries increase by 10 percent.
Significant adjustments are planned for civilian staff employed by defense institutions. Salaries for non-military personnel working in territorial defense departments and divisions will rise by 20 percent this year, followed by an additional 50 percent increase next year.
The reforms also include improvements to military pension provision. For service members with more than 30 years of service in the Armed Forces, the share of monthly pay used to calculate pensions will be raised from 75 percent to 100 percent.
In parallel, the government plans to expand housing construction programs for military personnel.
To formalize these changes, relevant state bodies have been instructed to prepare draft legislation regulating military pension provision and submit it to parliament for consideration.
