Uzbekistan is holding negotiations with the United States on simplifying the process of obtaining visas for Uzbek citizens, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the United States, Furkat Sidikov, said in an interview with Daryo.

“Achieving visa-free entry to the United States is a lengthy process. However, negotiations on this issue are under way. Naturally, what specific visa regime will be introduced and under what conditions depends on the domestic policy of the U.S. government,” the ambassador noted.

He emphasized that Uzbek–American relations have now reached a historic peak and pointed to significant potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries.

“Over the past year alone, there were four contacts between the presidents of Uzbekistan and the United States – two phone calls and two meetings in New York and Washington. As a result, large-scale agreements were reached. This demonstrates the U.S. government’s attention to the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, the country’s potential, and its readiness to cooperate with us,” the diplomat said.

Furkat Sidikov also reported that starting from late January 2026, a visa-free regime for up to 30 days will be introduced for U.S. citizens traveling to Uzbekistan. As a result, the number of tourists is expected to triple.

The diplomat added that regular negotiations on visa-free travel are currently being conducted not only with the United States, but also with Brazil, Canada, and other countries.
