Uzbek presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov shared the main points from the leaders’ statements to the media following their talks, outlining a number of agreements reached between Tashkent and New Delhi.

The talks were described as open and constructive, with the leaders highlighting the friendship, mutual respect and trust that underpin relations between the two countries.

India remains an important strategic partner for Uzbekistan, with significant international standing and influence. The two sides agreed to raise their relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

A new mechanism at the level of the two countries’ foreign ministers will be established to oversee the implementation of the agreements reached.

Trade was another key focus of the talks. Bilateral trade grew by 33% last year, exceeding $1.3 billion. Uzbekistan and India now aim to increase trade turnover to $5 billion by 2030.

The two governments also agreed to step up the work of the Uzbekistan–India Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council.

The sides will expand cooperation in energy, critical minerals, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, electronics, jewelry and agriculture.

Uzbekistan and India will continue to support each other in major international organizations and forums, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Non-Aligned Movement and BRICS, as well as in broader cooperation among countries of the Global South.

The leaders also pointed to the long history of cultural and educational ties between the Uzbek and Indian peoples.

The two countries plan to organize cultural weeks, film festivals and other major events, while also creating new joint tourism routes. The aim is to encourage more travel and direct contacts between people in the two countries.

The proposed 30-day visa-free regime is expected to make travel easier and give a further boost to tourism and business exchanges.

The sides also agreed to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for the full and timely implementation of the agreements and documents adopted during the talks.
