The updated ranking once again named Greece as the country with the world’s most highly rated cuisine, followed by Italy and Mexico. The top 10 has remained largely unchanged since 2024 and also includes Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, France, Japan, and China, whose national dishes received the highest overall scores this year.

By contrast, Uzbekistan, which ranked near the bottom of the list in 2024, did not make the 2025 ranking at all and failed to enter even the top 100. The same applies to Kyrgyzstan and Moldova, which were also among the lowest-ranked countries last year.

The list covers a total of 99 countries. Among post-Soviet states, Georgia achieved the highest position at 30th place, followed by Russia at 34th. Lithuania ranked 39th, Ukraine 43rd, and Azerbaijan 56th. Belarus and Latvia placed much lower, at 75th and 78th respectively. Armenia and Kazakhstan were rated among the least appealing cuisines, occupying 92nd and 93rd positions near the bottom of the ranking.

At the opposite end of the scale, Nicaragua, Laos, and Bolivia were ranked as having the least appealing cuisines, taking the final three places.

World Population Review noted that the ranking is based on around 400,000 individual opinions and reviews. However, it stressed that perceptions of what constitutes the “best” or “worst” cuisine are inherently subjective and shaped by personal taste, cultural background, and exposure to different food traditions.
