Official figures show that a total of 177,100 deaths were registered nationwide in 2025. This represents an increase of 2,700 deaths compared with 2024. Men accounted for 55.1 percent of all deaths, or 97,500 people, while women made up 45.9 percent, or 81,400 people.
Mortality data by cause indicate a steady increase across all major disease groups from the first to the fourth quarter of the year. The most pronounced rise was recorded in deaths linked to diseases of the circulatory system, which increased more than fourfold over the year – from 24,800 to 104,500 cases.
A sharp increase was also observed in deaths caused by neoplasms. In 2025, 15,999 people died from cancer-related diseases, up from 3,530 a year earlier.
Other major causes of death included diseases of the respiratory system, which claimed 23,014 lives, and diseases of the digestive system, responsible for 18,071 deaths. In addition, 3,852 people died from infectious and parasitic diseases during the year.
The statistics highlight the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Uzbekistan and point to rising mortality across several major health categories over the course of 2025.
