Embraer confirmed that the Republic of Uzbekistan has become a customer for the C-390 Millennium, marking a significant step in the modernization of the country’s military transport aviation capabilities. According to the company, Uzbekistan will be the first country in Central Asia to operate the C-390 platform.
The aircraft is expected to be used primarily for transport and humanitarian missions, expanding the operational flexibility of the Uzbek Air Force across a wide range of scenarios.
“We officially welcome the Republic of Uzbekistan to the group of C-390 operators, as the Uzbek Air Force modernizes its transport capabilities,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
Designed in the 21st century, the C-390 Millennium is among the most advanced military transport aircraft in its class. It can carry a payload of up to 26 tonnes, fly at speeds of up to 470 knots, and operate over longer distances compared to other medium-sized military transport aircraft. The platform is capable of performing a broad range of missions, including cargo and troop transport, airdrop of personnel and equipment, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian operations.
The aircraft can also operate from temporary or unpaved runways. When equipped with the KC-390 configuration, it can be used as an aerial refuelling tanker. The C-390 Millennium is fully compatible with NATO systems and is designed for flexible combat employment, including agile combat operations.
The C-390 Millennium has already been selected by the air forces of Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia, and Lithuania.
