Uzbekistan has set a target to increase annual car production to 510,000 units, alongside measures to lower auto loan rates and expand lending to support growing demand. The directives were issued during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on accelerating economic growth across sectors and regions.

In 2025, Uzbekistan’s GDP surpassed $147 billion, showing a 7.7% increase. Efficiency improvements, such as the adoption of energy-saving technologies and a rise in high value-added projects, reduced energy costs per $1 of added value by 15%.

Average income per hectare of agricultural land reached $5,000, while labor productivity rose by 4.7%. The services sector remained the primary engine of growth, accounting for more than half of the annual GDP increase.

President Mirziyoyev projected 2026 GDP growth at 6.6%, targeting $167 billion. The cautious forecast factors in geopolitical conditions and economic fluctuations. He emphasized the potential to accelerate growth through innovation, digital technologies, startup support, and efficient resource use, while cautioning against complacency from relying solely on automated plans.

Over the past three years, the industry’s share of value-added output increased from 40.7% to 43%. However, key sectors remain below the overall level: automotive – 20.7%, electrical engineering – 29.3%, and food processing – 30%.

Automobile plants in Uzbekistan have a combined capacity of 650,000 cars per year, but actual production is significantly lower. The president instructed officials to raise output to 510,000 vehicles annually.

Plans include organizing production of 763 new types of auto components through cooperation with local enterprises. To stimulate demand, authorities are tasked with reducing auto loan interest rates and expanding the volume of lending.

The meeting also highlighted rising demand for gardening tractors, harvesters, and seedling planters. Farmers are prepared to purchase up to 15,000 units of agricultural machinery annually, provided the Chirchik cluster reaches full production capacity, pricing is competitive, and convenient leasing options are available.

President Mirziyoyev called on officials to review all opportunities in the automotive sector and revise the industry production program to ensure a 10.5% growth in output.
