Uzbekistan to conduct exploration of promising uranium deposits in Mongolia

According to the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, a delegation from the state enterprise Navoiyuran and Uzbek Overseas Geology Company visited Mongolia on a working trip and held negotiations with representatives of the state company Mon Atom.

During the meeting, the parties discussed plans to conduct geological exploration at prospective uranium deposits in Mongolia in 2026.

The discussions focused on cooperation in uranium exploration and the preparation of the necessary technical and legal framework for the planned work.

The sides plan to sign a strategic agreement during an intergovernmental meeting scheduled for April. The agreement will involve the relevant ministries responsible for mining and geology, as well as organizations from both countries.

Under the planned framework, Uzbek Overseas Geology Company and Mon Atom will conclude a service contract. The parties will also prepare geological and environmental project documentation for the identified uranium prospects and submit the necessary materials to the authorized Mongolian authorities to obtain exploration licenses.

Following the issuance of licenses, negotiations are expected with drilling and geophysical companies operating in Mongolia to carry out the exploration work.

According to preliminary project documentation, the first phase will include comprehensive drilling operations covering approximately 60,000 linear meters across the designated sites. The results of these activities will be used to assess the potential reserves of the deposits and refine the exploration program for the next stage.

According to official registry data, Uzbek Overseas Geology Company was registered in February 2025 with an authorized capital of UZS 12.97 billion.

The company specializes in mining industry activities not classified under other categories. Its founders are “Uzbek Geological Exploration” JSC and “Uzbekgeofizika” JSC, each holding a 50 percent stake.
