Authorities have warned of possible avalanches in several mountainous and foothill districts of Uzbekistan from March 9 to 11 as colder temperatures and precipitation are expected to affect parts of the country.
According to Uzhydromet, avalanche danger may arise in a number of mountainous and foothill areas due to forecast precipitation and a drop in air temperatures during March 9–11.
The warning applies to the following regions and districts:
- Kashkadarya region – Dehkanabad, Kitab, Kamashi, and Shahrisabz districts
- Surkhandarya region – Baysun, Kumkurgan, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts
- Samarkand region – Nurabad, Koshrabat, Samarkand, and Urgut districts
- Jizzakh region – Bakhmal and Zaamin districts
- Tashkent region – Bostanlyk, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts
- Namangan region – Pap district
The hydrometeorological service urged residents of foothill and mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through mountain roads to strictly observe safety precautions during this period.
Earlier forecasts indicated that rain and snow are expected across parts of Uzbekistan in the coming week, accompanied by colder weather. In some areas, air temperatures may drop to as low as –10°C, according to meteorological authorities.
Officials advise people planning travel to mountainous areas to monitor weather updates and remain cautious as avalanche risks may increase under changing weather conditions.
