Tashkent to roll out smart bus stops with cameras, SOS system, and vending machines
Tashkent is set to introduce a new generation of “smart” bus stops equipped with SOS buttons, surveillance cameras, and digital information boards, as part of efforts to modernize the city’s public transport infrastructure.
According to the press service of the Traffic Organization Center, installation of the upgraded stops will begin in the near future, aiming to enhance both convenience and safety for passengers.
Each smart stop will be fitted with two surveillance cameras connected to a centralized monitoring system. In addition, an SOS button will be available for emergency situations, allowing passengers to quickly alert authorities if needed.
The project also places emphasis on accessibility. Dedicated waiting areas will be created for people with disabilities, ensuring a more inclusive transport environment.
Passengers will benefit from electronic displays showing real-time bus schedules, helping them better plan their journeys. The stops will also feature vending machines, enabling quick and convenient purchases while waiting.
“These innovations will take the use of public transport to a new level in terms of safety, comfort, and modernity,” the center noted.
