The new train, manufactured by Hyundai Rotem, consists of seven carriages and can reach speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour. The trainset is white with tinted windows and features blue, green, and red stripes inspired by the national flag, along with the inscription “Jaloliddin Manguberdi.”
With a total length of 175 meters, the train can accommodate around 390 passengers across three classes – VIP, business, and economy.
On March 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev traveled aboard the high-speed train from Samarkand to Narpay district together with members of the public, demonstrating the train’s capabilities ahead of its official launch.
The delivery of Hyundai Rotem high-speed trains to Uzbekistan was envisaged under a presidential resolution dated October 10, 2023, aimed at reforming the country’s railway transport system.
In February 2024, discussions were held on the supply of six such electric high-speed trains. During the state visit of the President of South Korea to Uzbekistan, a contract was signed between Uzbekistan Railways and Hyundai Rotem for the delivery and maintenance of six trains designed for speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour.
The first batch of these trains was shipped from South Korea to Uzbekistan in December 2025.
