Green energy production in Uzbekistan jumps 40% in first quarter of 2026
Uzbekistan has recorded a significant 40% increase in renewable energy production during the first three months of 2026. According to the Ministry of Energy, solar and wind power plants across the republic generated a combined 2 billion 368.2 million kWh of electricity between January and March.

This output represents an increase of 678.1 million kWh compared to the same period in 2025. A breakdown of the figures shows that solar photovoltaic stations contributed 1 billion 159.6 million kWh, while wind power plants accounted for 1 billion 208.6 million kWh of the total volume.
The transition to renewable sources is playing a crucial role in conserving natural resources and ensuring environmental stability. During the reporting period, the use of “green” energy resulted in the saving of 631 million cubic meters of natural gas. Furthermore, the shift helped prevent the emission of 1.3 million tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
To put the scale of production into perspective, the Ministry noted that the electricity generated over these three months is sufficient to cover the quarterly consumption of approximately 3.9 million households, or the entire annual energy needs of 986,000 homes.
This growth follows a record-breaking performance in February 2026, when renewable energy output surged by 203% compared to February of the previous year. During that month alone, large-scale solar plants produced 371 million kWh, while wind facilities generated 444 million kWh.
