Tashkent parents outraged as "innovative" school 3D show turns out to be a horror film

Schoolchildren in Tashkent’s Uchtepa district were charged to attend a 3D film screening that turned out to be a horror show, according to a complaint received by Kun.uz.

The screenings were organized by Xur–makon olami LLC, a company reportedly recommended to schools by Oybek Rakhmonberdiyev, Deputy Governor of Uchtepa district. Each student was charged UZS 25,000 to attend. However, it later emerged that the company had already ceased operations and was no longer listed in the state register.

Children frightened by screening

Students at one of the schools were asked to pay for what was advertised as a visiting “planetarium” event linked to April 12 – World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day. Instead, they were shown a 3D horror film containing violent imagery. Video footage seen by the outlet shows a frightening humanoid figure, while children can be heard screaming in fear.

We were told to allow it”

A school principal, who requested anonymity, said the screening was held on the instructions of Nargiza Khonturayeva, head of the Uchtepa District Department of Preschool and School Education.

“A mobile 3D cinema organized by Xur–makon olami LLC came to the school. We were not involved – they set the price and collected the money themselves. I allowed them in because they presented an official letter. Older students were not affected, but first–grade pupils were frightened. Parents also came to speak with me,” the principal said.

She added that mostly younger children attended the screening. “When I asked the students if they liked it, they said yes, but that they were scared. I’ve also heard that similar screenings are taking place not only in schools but in kindergartens as well,” the principal noted.

Backed by official recommendation

The company was allowed to hold screenings in schools after Uchtepa District Deputy Governor Oybek Rakhmonberdiyev issued a letter of recommendation. The letter, sent to Nargiza Khonturayeva, described the project as “innovative 360–degree 3D shows.”

“Such screenings help children understand their environment through real–life events, shaping their knowledge and worldview while increasing interest in innovation,” the letter stated.

Company already inactive

The recommendation letter was issued on March 30, 2026. However, open–source data indicates that Xur–makon olami LLC had already ceased operations by that time. The company was registered on October 19, 2022, with Ravshan Gofurov listed as its sole founder and director. It is currently marked as inactive in the state register.

The school principal confirmed that payments were collected directly by a company representative, with no involvement from the school administration in the financial handling of the event.
