How much you pay for gas in Uzbekistan and how it is calculated
Since 2024, Uzbekistan has applied a tiered gas pricing system: the first 500 m³ in winter and 100 m³ in summer are charged at 1,000 UZS per m³, while any usage above this is billed at higher rates of up to 3,000 UZS. In May 2025, tariffs increased for the second time. The government also provides compensation for low-income households, covering part of gas expenses up to 250 m³ in the heating season and up to 150 m³ in other months. In this article, we explain how gas bills are calculated under the new rules and how much households actually pay — for apartments, families, and private houses.
How the tiered system works
The cost of gas depends on consumption volume: the higher the usage, the more expensive each additional cubic meter becomes.
Each season has a base allowance — a volume within which the minimum tariff applies:
- winter — up to 500 m³ per month
- summer — up to 100 m³
Any usage above this limit is charged at higher rates.

How much you will pay
The gas bill depends on consumption and whether it stays within the base allowance. In winter, the limit is 500 m³ per month.
- if consumption is up to 500 m³ — the entire volume is charged at 1,000 UZS per m³
- if it exceeds the limit — only the excess is charged at a higher rate (from 1,800 UZS per m³)
Example (700 m³ consumption):
- 500 m³ × 1,000 = 500,000 UZS
- 200 m³ × 1,800 = 360,000 UZS
Total: 860,000 UZS

How to pay for gas
You can pay for gas via mobile apps, personal accounts, or payment terminals. Payment must be made by the 10th of each month. Late payments incur a penalty of 0.1% per day, but no more than 50% of the total debt.
Via Payme “My Home”
Payme includes a “My Home” section with all utility services.
How to pay:
- Open Payme
- Go to “My Home”
- Add the “Gas” service (if not already added)
- Enter your account number
- Check the balance
- Click “Pay”
After payment:
- the transaction is saved in history
- the balance is updated
Via the gas supplier’s personal account
You can also pay directly through the gas provider system:
- Check charges
- Pay by card
Via terminals and banks
You can also pay:
- at payment terminals
- at banks
You only need your account number.
How a meter affects gas payments
Having a meter directly affects the payment amount. Billing based on actual consumption is usually cheaper than fixed rates.
If there is no meter, gas is charged at fixed tariffs. Since May 2025:
- 1,800 UZS per m³ — for cooking and hot water
- 1,400 UZS per m³ — for heating
Both are higher than the base tariff (1,000 UZS per m³), so overpayment occurs even with low consumption.
What is ASKUG
ASKUG is an automated gas metering system. These meters transmit readings automatically without manual input and are installed by the gas supply company.
If there is a debt, the system can automatically shut off gas supply. After payment, an SMS code is sent to your phone — it must be entered into the meter to restore supply.
If you don’t receive the SMS code:
- check the phone number linked to your account
- call the call center: 1104
- contact via hududgaz.uz
- visit the gas provider’s office if needed
Who is eligible for compensation
Before May 2025, compensation was provided only during winter (November–February). Since May 2025, it is available year-round and will remain in effect until April 2027.
Compensation covers part of expenses within a set volume:
- up to 250 m³ per month during the heating season
- up to 150 m³ in other months
Eligible households include those who:
- are listed in the Unified Social Protection Register — income below 669,000 UZS per person
- are listed as low-income — income below 1,155,000 UZS per person
- are not in these registers but have low assets and income below 1,000,000 UZS per person
Summary
- A tiered pricing system has been in place since 2024
- Base tariff — 1,000 UZS per m³ within the allowance
- Winter allowance — 500 m³, summer — 100 m³
- Above the limit — from 1,800 UZS per m³
- Without a meter, payments are usually higher
- Payment deadline — the 10th of each month, penalty — 0.1% per day
- Compensation is now provided year-round
