The ministry stressed that the document, which proposes to repeal a previous regulation governing the phased rollout of the system, had been misinterpreted on social media.
Under an order dated December 15, 2025, authorities had planned a gradual expansion of electronic prescriptions, initially making them mandatory for systemic antibiotics, synthetic antibacterial drugs, and hormonal medicines.
The new draft order instead proposes a full transition to electronic prescriptions for all prescription medicines in Tashkent and in 15 pilot districts and cities.
Exceptions would apply to certain categories of potent substances, as well as medicines containing narcotic and psychotropic components, and to processes linked to the reimbursement program.
