Government to impose fines for burning tires and fuel oil in greenhouses
Uzbekistan will impose fines for burning tires, fuel oil, and other harmful materials to heat greenhouses and industrial facilities, following a new law approved by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The amendments, adopted on May 4 and due to take effect on August 5, expand liability under Article 88 of the country’s administrative code on air pollution violations.
The law prohibits the open burning of fuel, waste, and other materials outside designated areas. It also bans the use of tires, bitumen, fuel oil, plastic film, synthetic cardboard, and rubber for heating greenhouses and production sites.
First-time offenders will be fined 15 to 25 Base Calculating Amount (UZS 6.18 million to 10.3 million). Officials will face fines of 25 to 50 units (UZS 10.3 million to 20.6 million).
Repeat offenses within a year will result in fines of up to 50 BCAs for individuals and 70 BCAs for officials, reaching up to UZS 28.84 million.
