State budget to cover thousands of surgeries and organ transplants for vulnerable patients
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution introducing targeted state support and charitable initiatives across Uzbekistan to mark the sacred holiday of Eid Al-Adha. The comprehensive package combines financial assistance for vulnerable minors with state funding for complex medical interventions.
Under the new decree, the government will cover the costs of medical examinations, surgical procedures, and specialized treatments for specific categories of patients. This initiative guarantees funding for surgical operations for 10,000 children suffering from severe or disabling conditions. It also ensures comprehensive medical coverage for 2,300 patients diagnosed with oncological, hematological, and oncohematological diseases. Furthermore, the state budget will fully fund liver and kidney transplant procedures for at least 350 patients requiring urgent operations.
In tandem with medical support, a one-time financial allowance of $200 will be deposited directly into the savings accounts of vulnerable children. Eligible groups include orphans and children left without parental care who are under guardianship, custodianship, or foster care placements.
The financial aid extends to residents of houses of kindness (Mehribonlik uylari), family children's homes, small-capacity orphanages, and the SOS Children’s Villages network. Minors whose parents died while defending the state borders, as well as young patients currently receiving palliative care at the Taskin Children’s Hospice, will also receive the allowance.
Beyond individual assistance, the decree outlines community-wide infrastructure improvements ahead of the holiday. The government plans to upgrade and repair facilities at 500 mosques, focusing primarily on constructing convenient amenities for worshippers, while initiating a nationwide cleanup and restoration campaign for local cemeteries. Special regional councils will be established to oversee the beautification of these sacred sites and ensure the effective organization of the festive charitable events.
