UzAuto Motors loses its majority grip on Uzbekistan's car market
For the first time, UzAuto Motors has fallen below a 50% share of Uzbekistan's car market. Data covering January–April 2026 shows the company held a 47.8% share of total sales – a striking reversal for a brand that commanded around 90% of the market just two years ago.

A total of 121,601 vehicles were sold in Uzbekistan over the four-month period. UzAuto Motors accounted for 58,168 of those sales, but the company's effective market position is further complicated by the fact that a portion of its vehicles are now manufactured through Khorezm Auto, which separately recorded 37,559 units sold. ADM Jizzakh came third with 14,460 units, followed by BYD Uzbekistan with 10,927. SamAuto and Asaka Motors remained marginal players at 386 and 101 units respectively.
Within UzAuto Motors' own lineup, the Cobalt remains the best-selling model in the country. However, its sales have fallen by nearly a third compared to the same period last year – a significant drop for what has long been the backbone of the company's volumes. More broadly, sales of Chevrolet-branded vehicles are growing more slowly than the rest of the market, which has allowed competitors to close the gap faster than might otherwise have been the case.

The clearest beneficiaries of UzAuto Motors' retreat are BYD, Chery, and KIA, all of which are posting rising sales figures. BYD Uzbekistan's 10,927 units over just four months place it firmly in fourth position nationally – a result that would have been difficult to imagine even a couple of years ago.
