First Uzbek Hajj pilgrims return to Tashkent
The return of Uzbek citizens who performed the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia has officially begun. On Tuesday, June 2, the first flights carrying pilgrims landed at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport.
According to the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, pilgrims from Tashkent were the first to return. Similar welcoming ceremonies are planned at ten other international airports across the country in the coming weeks.
Return flights carrying Uzbek pilgrims from Jeddah will continue until June 19.

This year's pilgrimage season also included a special state-supported initiative. Under a presidential directive, 100 citizens from across the country received fully funded packages to perform the Hajj pilgrimage free of charge.
