Uzbekistan maps out infrastructure portfolio with New Development Bank following official accession
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has held a bilateral meeting with the President of the New Development Bank (NDB), Dilma Rousseff, who arrived in Tashkent to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The high-level discussions focused on establishing a structured framework for cooperation following Uzbekistan's official admission as a shareholder of the international financial institution.
During the session, Rousseff highly commended the sweeping socio-economic and structural reforms underway in Uzbekistan. She affirmed the multilateral lender's commitment to supporting the country's strategic development goals and welfare initiatives through direct institutional partnership.

The talks carried particular significance as officials celebrated Uzbekistan's formal entry into the New Development Bank, making it the tenth shareholder of the institution and the first representative from the Central Asian region. To capitalize on this milestone, Mirziyoyev and Rousseff agreed to mobilize NDB expert missions to design a comprehensive, medium-term portfolio of joint investment operations.

The upcoming project pipeline will prioritize sustainable development across critical sectors, including energy infrastructure, water resource management, and transport networks. The partnership will also extend financial mechanisms to support engineering infrastructure, the private sector, and social development initiatives.

Furthermore, both leaders emphasized the vital importance of NDB participation in cross-border transport and logistics projects aimed at enhancing broader regional connectivity. Special attention was dedicated to integrating the bank's resources into ongoing environmental transformation programs to accelerate Uzbekistan's shift toward a green economy. Looking ahead, the parties also reviewed preliminary plans to host major New Development Bank organizational events within Uzbekistan in the coming years.
