Uzbekistan bags 11 medals, including four golds, at World Boxing Cup in China
Uzbekistan’s national boxing team delivered a strong performance at the second stage of the World Boxing Cup in Guiyang, China, securing 11 medals. The tournament featured over 300 athletes from more than 40 countries competing at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium.
Uzbekistan entered a complete roster for the competition, fielding athletes across all 10 men’s and 9 women’s weight categories. The delegation completed the tournament with four gold, three silver, and four bronze medals, placing third in the overall medal standings behind the host nation, China, and Kazakhstan.
Seven Uzbek boxers advanced to the final round to compete for gold titles. In the women’s 57 kg division, Nigina Uktamova secured a gold medal with a unanimous 5:0 victory over India’s Prachi. Olympic champion Abdumalik Khalokov also dominated the men’s 60 kg final, defeating Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel with a clear 5:0 scoreline.

Further gold medals came in the heavier divisions. Javokhir Ummataliev won a close 3:2 split decision against Wanderley Pereira of Brazil in the men’s 80 kg final, while Turabek Khabibullaev was awarded the gold medal in the men’s 90 kg category after his opponent withdrew from the bout due to an injury.

Three Uzbek athletes finished their campaigns with silver medals after tough final matchups. Farzona Fozilova took silver in the women’s 48 kg class, Asilbek Jalilov finished second in the men’s 50 kg category, and Oltinoy Sotimboeva claimed silver in the women's 80+ kg division.

The team's medal haul was completed by Arman Makhanov, Akmaljon Isroilov, Aziza Zokirova, and Sitora Turdibekova, who each earned bronze medals after reaching the semifinal stages of their respective weight classes.
Following the conclusion of the matches in China, elite international boxing will head to Uzbekistan later this year. Tashkent is scheduled to host the third and final stage of the World Boxing Cup tournament in November.
