The incidents were discussed at a meeting chaired by Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Abdulgani Sanginov on August 24. While almost no accidents were recorded at the Gazli and Shurtan oil and gas production units during the month, incidents at other units affected production, according to the company.
Sanginov said preventing accidents should take priority over dealing with their consequences. He instructed managers to significantly reduce the number of incidents next month and complete all preventive maintenance and repair work before temperatures fall.
The company said the accidents were particularly damaging because measures taken to counter the natural decline in gas production had been generating additional gas flows and helping improve output figures.
New wells
Uzbekneftegaz had planned to commission 11 new wells between August 1 and 24. Drilling was completed at eight wells, seven of which were brought into operation, creating the capacity to produce an additional 1.7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
One well did not produce gas at an industrial scale, while the commissioning of another was postponed until early September. Managers responsible for three other wells were given additional instructions to ensure drilling is completed on schedule.
Sanginov also warned that completing drilling should not create a new bottleneck by leaving newly prepared gas disconnected from the production system. Managers were therefore instructed to monitor pipelines, processing equipment, compressor stations and power supplies alongside work on the wells.
Well repairs exceed targets
The company reported better-than-planned results from major well repairs.
Between August 1 and 24, all eight wells scheduled to be brought back into operation produced gas at an industrial scale. Additional output reached 310,000 cubic meters per day, compared with the planned 235,000 cubic meters.
Uzbekneftegaz now plans to bring another 11 wells into operation between August 21 and 31 and obtain an additional 340,000 cubic meters of gas per day. The meeting reviewed the progress of work on the wells, with officials ordered to meet the established deadlines.
