Uzbekistan dominates Asian youth boxing championships in Jakarta
Uzbekistan's national boxing team finished first in the overall standings at the Asian U-19 and U-23 Boxing Championships held in Jakarta, Indonesia, winning a total of 33 medals.
The continental tournament took place from July 3–17 and brought together 329 athletes from 20 countries. Competitors contested medals across 10 weight categories in four divisions: U-23 men, U-23 women, U-19 boys, and U-19 girls.
Represented by a squad of 38 boxers, Uzbekistan concluded the championships with 21 gold, six silver, and six bronze medals. Uzbek athletes also topped the team standings in every age category for both male and female competitions.
The U-19 men's team enjoyed one of the tournament's strongest performances, claiming seven gold, one silver, and one bronze medal to secure first place in the team rankings. Kazakhstan finished second, while South Korea completed the top three.
Uzbekistan's U-19 women's team added four gold and two silver medals. Gold medals were won by Sabrina Chakomanova (54 kg), Sevara Mamatova (60 kg), Rushanabonu Isayeva (65 kg), and Samira Turgunova (75 kg). Nazokat Mardonova (51 kg) and Maftuna Yangiyeva (70 kg) earned silver medals.
The country's U-23 boxers also topped the overall standings in their division. They won four gold, two silver, and three bronze medals across the 10 weight categories, finishing ahead of Kazakhstan, which placed second.
Uzbekistan's U-23 women's team produced another dominant display, collecting six gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. Gold medals went to Gulsevar Ganiyeva (51 kg), Humorabonu Mamajonova (57 kg), Mushtariybonu Ibrokhimjonova (60 kg), Sevinch Khurramova (65 kg), Rukhshona Parpiyeva (80 kg), and Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova (over 80 kg).
Rayhona Qurbonboyeva won silver in the 70 kg division, while Uzukjamol Yunusova (54 kg) and Oysha Toirova (75 kg) claimed bronze medals.
With 21 gold, six silver, and six bronze medals, Uzbekistan emerged as the undisputed leader of the championships, underlining the country's continued strength across all youth boxing categories.
