According to the Dunyo Information Agency, Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Ethiopia and South Africa, Ashraf Khodjaev, met separately with representatives of both countries to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the area of travel and mobility.

During the meetings, the parties exchanged views on measures to simplify visa procedures for Uzbek citizens, ease travel formalities, explore the introduction of a reciprocal visa-free regime, and create more convenient conditions for citizens traveling between the countries.

At the conclusion of the talks, the sides agreed that simplifying visa procedures would help boost cooperation in tourism, trade, economic relations, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

As of August 1, 2025, Uzbek citizens are eligible to apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa) to travel to Ethiopia.

Travelers heading to South Africa, however, are still required to obtain a visa before departure in accordance with the country's immigration regulations. Visa-free entry and visas on arrival are not available for Uzbek passport holders.
