The National Agency for Social Protection said the compensation is provided under a presidential resolution dated April 2, 2025. Under the scheme, eligible families receive compensation for the difference between the regulated prices within the basic consumption allowance and the higher rates applied to consumption exceeding that allowance.
Of the UZS 92.1 billion paid between January and June, UZS 51.4 billion covered electricity costs, while UZS 40.7 billion was allocated for natural gas.
The compensation scheme covers electricity consumption exceeding the monthly basic allowance of 200 kWh, with compensation available for up to an additional 150 kWh.
For natural gas, compensation covers consumption exceeding the basic allowance by up to 250 cubic meters during the winter season and up to 150 cubic meters during other seasons.
The government announced in May that compensation payments for electricity and natural gas would continue for low-income families.
