Hervieu led a delegation to Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber, where the sides discussed cooperation on lawmaking, parliamentary oversight and diplomacy.
Uzbekistan and France have deepened ties in recent years, with bilateral relations elevated to a strategic partnership in March 2025, when President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a joint declaration in Paris.
Hakimov briefed the French delegation on Uzbekistan’s political reforms, including expanded parliamentary powers and stronger oversight mechanisms introduced under constitutional reforms.
The sides also discussed increasing direct contacts between parliamentary committees and factions, strengthening the role of friendship groups, and expanding parliamentary visits and exchanges of expertise.
Trade between Uzbekistan and France reached $1.4 billion in 2025, exceeding $1 billion for the first time. The value of joint investment projects involving French companies has surpassed €12 billion.
Humanitarian ties have also expanded, including the establishment of the Uzbek-French University, cooperation on the study and preservation of cultural heritage, and an exhibition of Uzbek cultural heritage at the Louvre.
Hervieu welcomed Uzbekistan’s reforms and its growing international role and congratulated the Uzbek people on the 35th anniversary of independence.
The two sides agreed to continue developing parliamentary cooperation and exchanges.
