Tashkent needs more green public spaces, Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva said on September 17, noting that trees, water features and shaded areas have a direct impact on residents’ quality of life, particularly in the city’s hot climate.

Saida Mirziyoyeva inspected the site of a planned new park in Tashkent’s Shaykhontohur district. The project will include a lake, landscaped green areas, and facilities for family recreation, children’s activities, walking and sports.

Similar public spaces should be created across all districts of the capital, Mirziyoyeva said. She added that the city should expand its network of parks, preserve existing green areas and develop new environmentally friendly urban zones.

Mirziyoyeva described the initiative as one of the key priorities for Tashkent’s development and said work in this area would continue.
