The issue was discussed on September 23 by Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov and China’s Transport Minister Liu Wei during talks on expanding bilateral cooperation in transport.
Following the meeting, the two sides signed a protocol introducing amendments and additions to the agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and China on international road transport.
The document is intended to strengthen the legal framework for road transportation and improve conditions for national carriers. Its implementation is expected to expand opportunities for Uzbek and Chinese companies to conduct international freight operations, reduce administrative barriers and increase bilateral and transit cargo flows.
The ministers also discussed expanding international road freight, increasing cargo volumes and improving transport and logistics links between the two countries.
Civil aviation was another focus of the talks. The sides discussed increasing the number of flights between cities in Uzbekistan and China, expanding flight routes and creating additional opportunities for passenger and cargo transportation.
Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry said the new protocol would also support the development of international transport corridors linking China with Central Asia and other regions.
The two sides agreed to continue working together to implement the agreements reached during the meeting.
