The delegation was given a ceremonial welcome at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport after arriving in the capital on a specially arranged charter flight.
Government representatives led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, along with officials from the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee and the Paralympic Committee, representatives of the Tashkent city administration, members of the sporting community and supporters gathered at the airport to welcome the athletes.
At the ceremony, Aripov congratulated the Uzbek delegation on what was described as a historic performance at the 20th Asian Games.
The athletes were also presented with a congratulatory message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which praised their performance at the major continental event, their high level of skill and their efforts to uphold the country’s honor.
Uzbekistan finished fifth in the overall medal standings and topped the ranking among Central Asian countries.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games brought together 10,608 athletes from 45 countries and featured competitions across numerous sports. Uzbekistan’s representatives recorded strong results in several disciplines.
