The man had travelled to Sergeli district to buy a car when the cash fell out of his bag while he was travelling on the metro from Olmazor station to Sergeli.
Officers working in the Tashkent Metro found the money and carried out checks to establish its lawful owner. The $10,000 was subsequently returned to him in full, the Interior Ministry said.
The man said he realized the money was missing only after reaching the car market.
“I came from Olmazor metro station to Sergeli, and at some point the $10,000 fell out of my bag. I was in a hurry and had been running. I’m grateful to the metro staff. The Interior Ministry officers found the money and tracked me down using Face ID. I realized I had lost it at the car market,” he said in Uzbek. “I guess it came back to me because I had earned it through honest, hard work. Many thanks to the Interior Ministry.”
