The talks were held on the sidelines of the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2026) in Antalya, with Uzbekistan’s Digital Technologies Minister Sherzod Shermatov and Uzcosmos Director Shukhrat Kadirov meeting NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson.
The sides discussed the current space priorities of Uzbekistan and the United States, potential joint projects and initiatives, and ways to move bilateral cooperation toward practical implementation.
Particular attention was given to the development of space technologies, the effective use of satellite data, Earth remote sensing, joint research projects and the training of highly qualified specialists for the sector.
The participants also discussed NASA’s potential involvement in IAC-2028, which is scheduled to be held in Samarkand in 2028.
They exchanged views on opportunities to present joint projects and scientific and technical initiatives at the international congress.
The sides expressed interest in developing long-term, practical cooperation in the space sector, strengthening existing ties and advancing new joint projects.
